Getting Started with Pattrn
Hey there. I’m Pedro, the founder of Pattrn.
Today I’ll walk you through the best way to use our app to lock in, stay disciplined, and actually make progress this year.
Pattrn is built around two powerful, connected systems: Goals and Habits.
When you set them up the right way, you’ll have the clarity, discipline, and motivation to finally follow through. Let’s go step by step.
Step 1: Set Your Goals
Your goals are the targets you want to hit — like losing weight, reading more books, or studying for a set number of hours.
Pattrn uses the SMART methodology, which means every goal has:
A start point
An end point
A deadline
For example: if you want to read 1,000 pages, your starting point is 0, your endpoint is 1,000, and you set a target date to complete it. Pattrn will then show you how much you need to read each week and each month to stay on track.
Milestones
Once your goal is created, you can add milestones — mini-goals that break your big target into smaller, manageable steps. They make progress easier to see and celebrate.
Photo Logs
You can also add photos to your goals. For example, take a picture of the book you’re currently reading. Visual tracking makes the journey feel more real.
Step 2: Build Your Habits
Goals mean nothing without daily action. That’s where habits come in.
Your habits are the daily behaviors that fill up your goals.
Example: If your goal is to read 1,000 pages, your habit might be reading 10 pages a day.
You can create a new habit by tapping the + button, then setting:
Measurement type (pages, minutes, reps, etc.)
Frequency (daily, weekly, etc.)
Preferred time of day
When you complete a habit, you can either mark it as done with a single tap or log the exact amount (like “12 pages today”).
Step 3: Link Goals and Habits
The real power of Pattrn is in linking goals and habits.
When editing a goal (or while creating it), you can link one or more habits.
Example: Link your “Read 10 pages daily” habit to your “Read 1,000 pages” goal.
This way:
Your progress automatically syncs.
You’ll see your accuracy rate (how consistent your habits are in supporting your goals).
If the unit matches (like “pages”), you can enable auto-log. That means every time you log a habit, it updates your goal automatically.
Step 4: Stay Motivated with Insights
The Insights view is where you track your overall discipline.
Here’s what you’ll see:
Locked-In Streak: how many days you’ve stayed disciplined.
Focus Score: a smart score combining your habits, goals, and streak.
Patterns: charts showing your most accurate days, recent performance, and overall progress.
This isn’t just data — it’s feedback to help you reset when you fall off and double down when you’re doing well.
Step 5: AI Agents
With Pattrn Pro, you get access to your own AI agent.
Your agent will:
Analyze whether you’re on track to hit your goals.
Suggest adjustments, like postponing a deadline or pushing harder if you’re ahead.
Help you realign when you slip up, so you don’t lose momentum.
Step 6: Go Beyond Tracking
